About

I am a specialty registrar in Trauma & Orthopaedics. I have an interest in hands and have undertaken the TIG Hand Fellowship in Cambridge.

What made you join IODA?

I have had a remarkably positive experience of being a woman in surgery. I want to use this to encourage others towards a surgical shaped career, whilst acknowledging that the system can always be improved.

How have you approached DEI in your workplace?

I try to challenge preconceptions of how Orthopaedic surgery looks.

How do you define inclusion?

Inclusion is a sense of belonging. It is critical for performance, job satisfaction and staff retention, as well as personal development.

What is your proudest achievement?

Several junior doctors have credited me in their decision to pursue Orthopaedic surgery. Outside of surgery I am a volunteer for the Royal National Lifeboats Institution.
