I am a second year medical student at Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit, exploring my interest in the field of orthopedic surgery.

I am a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon in St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. I worked in London, Ontario, Canada for 9 years prior to my current job.
I did two peds ortho fellowships. The first in Vancouver, BC and the second at Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. I have an interest in surgical education.

Antoinette Jasmine Charles is a first-generation Haitian-American who was born and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. She is a third-year medical student at Duke University School of Medicine, holding a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience with a minor in chemistry from Georgia State University. After graduating, Antoinette worked as a clinical research fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health. Co-founding the Duke Spine Navigator's Program, she aims to improve patients' access to and utilization of existing healthcare resources, expand the social support network of patients, and increase mobility in the postoperative period. Antoinette is also pursuing a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health.

Antoinette has served as the Class Council Vice-President of Service, Medical Student representative for the Graduate and Professional Student Government, and Student National Medical Association Pre-medical Students Liaison, and Global Surgery Student Alliance President. In 2022, she was invited to serve on the White House Clinician Innovators Roundtable Series, contributing her experiences with personal challenges, leadership opportunities, and clinical experiences to discussions on health policy and civic engagement impacting providers and patients.

Ultimately, Antoinette strives to become an orthopedic surgeon who provides exceptional patient care and engages in research to identify and address healthcare disparities among vulnerable populations. She envisions taking an active role in advocating for policy changes at both local and national levels, driven by evidence derived from her research findings. Through active participation in shaping health policies, she aims to contribute to creating a more inclusive and patient-centered healthcare system.

I am one half of an all female orthopaedic team in the Sea to Sky Corridor on the West Coast of Canada.

I am from Nashville, TN, and I graduated from Florida A&M University, where I played tennis. I, then, went to Case Western Reserve University and obtained a master’s in Applied Anatomy. Currently, I am finishing a research year at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. I plan to apply into orthopaedic surgery. My favorite hobbies are playing tennis, listening to podcasts/audiobooks, and cooking. My new favorite book is Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult. I am passionate about mental health, health equity, and social justice.

I am a third-year medical student interested in orthopedic surgery. My professional focal points include building an academic foundation to support my medical career, developing research skills through qualitative and quantitative research opportunities, and learning through networking and interactions with healthcare/public health students, professionals, researchers, and patients. I am deeply interested in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in medicine, and I hope to build a foundation of knowledge that supports these efforts.
